River Valley High School (Also known as RVHS) is a public high school located in Yuba City, California.It was founded in 2005, and has grades 9-12. History. The school, the second high school in the city after Yuba City High School, was built due to Measure SS, a $30.6 million bond measure which was approved by local voters in 1999.
May 21 – United States – Yuba City bus disaster. A bus carrying the Yuba City High School a cappella choir fell off Interstate 680 in California, killing 28 students and a teacher. This was the second deadliest bus crash in U.S. history, after the 1963 Chualar bus crash.
On May 21, 1976, Yuba City High School chartered a school bus from Student Transportation Lines, Inc. to transport its a cappella choir from Yuba City, California, to Miramonte High School in Orinda for a friendship day involving the choirs of the two schools. The company supplied a Crown bus, dating from 1950.
The school is located at 256 Wilbur Ave. in Yuba City, near the Sutter County Fair Grounds. Yuba City Charter School strives for high academic achievement in a small-school atmosphere.
