The Skanderbeg Monument is a monument in the Skanderbeg Square in Tirana, Albania. It commemorates Skanderbeg (1405–1468), the national hero in Albania for resisting the Ottomans . Created by Odhise Paskali, [1] the 11 metres (36 ft) monument was inaugurated in 1968 on the 500th anniversary of the death of Skanderbeg. [2]

The coat of arms of the Republic of Albania is a state symbol. It represents a shield, blood red in color, with an eagle in the center, identical to the eagle of the national flag. At the top of the shield, in golden color, is placed the helmet of Skanderbeg, in right profile. The dimensions of the shield have an aspect ratio of 1:1.5.
In 1996, the Parliament of Albania passed the law entitled On the decorations in the Republic of Albania (Albanian: Për dekoratat në Republikën e Shqipërisë). An addition to the 1996 law was made in 2001. A regulation on the awarding of the decorations was issued afterwards by President Alfred Moisiu. 1914—1939
