Secondary education. According to the SNKA, secondary education is the third level of education. In Prizren there are six basic secondary schools and six separated secondary schools. Based on language, six schools are in Albanian, one Bosnian, and five others. There are 9608 students, 5261 males, 4347 females.
The founding of the University of Mitrovica was part of a wider Kosovo government initiative to facilitate access to higher education throughout Kosovo. This initiative included the opening of universities besides the University of Pristina in Prizren, Peja, Mitrovica and Gjilan. The programs were all accredited by KAA in 2012.
On 6 February 2018, the European Commission published its expansion plan [6] to cover up to six Western Balkan countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia. The plan envisages that all six applicants could achieve accession as members of the European Union after 2025.
