History of Lego. Lego began in 1932 in the carpentry workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen, a Danish carpenter. He initially produced furniture but later started making wooden toys. The company was named "Lego" in 1934, a contraction from the Danish phrase "leg godt", meaning "play well". Coincidentally, ‘lego’ means ‘I put together’ in Latin.

Reception. In October 2019, Lego Duplo World was launched, which is an educational game app that was designed to help children between the ages of two and five reach their key learning goals. It was developed by StoryToys in partnership with The Lego Group.
In 2020, Lego launched its adult-focussed category. Adults also introduce kids to Lego, making them a critical group to the Danish toymaker's growth.
