The school was named for Glen A. Wilson, former Superintendent of the La Puente Union High School District 1953-1972 (which became Hacienda La Puente Unified School District in 1970). [4] He was born in Alpaugh, California, on September 11, 1913. He was a resident of Hillcrest in La Verne, California when he died on September 7, 1996.

It was established in 1915. It is one of six high schools (including two alternative schools) in the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District.
It is now one of four high schools in the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, which was created in 1970 by a vote of the electorate unifying four high schools and the Hudson Elementary School District. Enrollment levels of the school have varied over the years. In 1978, it reached its highest enrollment, of 2,850 students.
The campus is located in La Puente, California, approximately 20 miles (32 km) east of downtown Los Angeles in Los Angeles County. The coeducational student body comprises approximately 1,520 students in grades 9 through 12, making Bishop Amat the largest private high school in Los Angeles County.

LABI College, California (Latin American Bible Institute) is private coed Bible college in the Avocado Heights district of La Puente, California. It was founded in 1926. In 1950 the institute moved to its current location in La Puente. [1] LABI College is one of the oldest Hispanic Bible Colleges in the country. [1]
