The SAF Scholarship, formerly known as the SAF Overseas Scholarship ( SAFOS ), is a scholarship conferred by the Public Service Commission (PSC). The scholarship is second in prestige to the President's Scholarship. Scholars are groomed for the highest levels of command and management in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and beyond.
PSC was founded in 1986 by its two scientific directors, Ralph Roskies of the University of Pittsburgh and Michael Levine of Carnegie Mellon. PSC is a leading partner in the TeraGrid, the National Science Foundation's cyberinfrastructure program. The Scarab lunar rover is being developed by the RI.
