North Las Vegas campus. Henderson campus. The College of Southern Nevada ( CSN) is a public community college in Clark County, Nevada. In 1951, an extension campus was created in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1957, the extension became the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In 1971, the College of Southern Nevada was founded to serve the growing population of Nevada. The most recent public college is Nevada State University in Henderson, Nevada, which was founded in 2002.
University of Nevada, Las Vegas was the second four-year university in the state to be founded, initially as Nevada Southern University in 1957. Winning its autonomy in 1965, Nevada Southern was renamed in 1969 due to the need for better national recognition and partially for separation from the University of Nevada. [1]
