At that time the 1924 Shelby High School was turned into a junior high school housing grades 7-9 from 1965-1970 and grades 7-8 from 1970-2013. At the beginning of the 1995-1996 school year, the building became Shelby Middle School. In 2010, a $24 million bond to build a new high school was passed by local voters.
