Demographics. According to the 2011 Census of India, Churchu had a total population of 1,279, of which 675 (53%) were males and 604 (47%) were females. Population in the age range 0-6 years was 175. The total number of literate persons in Churchu was 833 (75.45% of the population over 6 years).
Churchu is located at 23°54′26″N 85°30′44″E. [10] Churchu CD block is bounded by Sadar, Hazaribagh, Daru and Tati Jhariya CD blocks on the north, Mandu CD block, in Ramgarh district, on the east, Dadi CD block on the south and Barkagaon CD block on the west. [11] [12] Chuchu CD block has an area of 201.46 km 2. [13]
At the time of formation, Jharkhand state had 18 districts. Later, six more districts were carved out by reorganizing these districts. The 23rd and 24th districts- Khunti and Ramgarh (carved out of erstwhile Ranchi and Hazaribagh District respectively) were made a district on 12 September 2007.
