The sixth grade is the sixth school year after Kindergarten. Students are usually 11—12 years old. [9][10][11] It is most commonly the first year of middle school, although it used to be the last year of elementary in most states. Less commonly, it can also be the last year of intermediate school or the second year of middle school.
