Medina Valley Independent School District is a public school district based in Castroville, Texas.. In addition to Lacoste, the district also serves the city of Castroville and the surrounding area.
Originally the facilities of the Colorado Common School District Number 36 were at the intersection of U.S. Highway 183 and Texas State Highway 71.In 1952 the City of Austin annexed about one third of the district territory, including Montopolis and the property of the Austin Country Club.
In 1904, it once again served as a school when it housed the four students enrolled in North Fort Worth High School. When the community finally outgrew the little building in 1906, John Mulholland bought and moved it to 1309 Commerce Street, where it was converted and used as a residence throughout the early-to-mid-20th century.
