History. The school was Initially built on Merle Avenue, but moved to its current location on Skillman Avenue in 1955 and expanded to its current size in 1962. The school features some of the best, and highest paid teachers on Long Island. The school's mascot is the Sailor and teams compete countywide in a variety of sports.
MiraCosta was founded in 1934. Classes began in a wing at Oceanside High School. Originally, MiraCosta was known as Oceanside-Carlsbad Junior College. There were 122 students enrolled and 20 faculty members. It was the second community college to be established in San Diego County.

Brenner played high school football at Oceanside High School in California, where he was a two-time all-league selection and a second-team all-state selection as a senior in 2007.
