Since 2007, VNUHCM – US has been a public university playing an important role in offering education and scientific research within the VNUHCM system. It is entrusted with providing education at undergraduate levels and postgraduate levels and undertaking scientific research as well as technological transfer.
1976: The school was named Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology according to Decision No. 426/TTg dated October 27, 1976, with 5 faculties: Construction, Electricity-Electronics, Irrigation, Mechanics and Chemistry. Since then, October 27 has been chosen as the founding day of HCMUT. 1978: Faculty of Geology was established.
