The California Community Colleges is a postsecondary education system in the U.S. state of California. [1] Despite its plural name, the system is consistently referred to in California law as a singular entity. [1] The system includes the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges and 73 community college districts.
In 1990, local voters established CCC as a locally governed independent community college. In recent years, CCC has made efforts to modernize the curriculum including the addition of online courses and computer-based learning. In the fall of 2006, students were issued school email addresses to improve communication and online education.
