TMI Episcopal is a private school in San Antonio. Previously known as Texas Military Institute, TMI is a selective coeducational Episcopal college preparatory school with a military tradition in San Antonio, Texas for boarding and day students. It is the flagship school, and sole secondary school, of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas.
The attempts to establish a school of this sort began as early as 1865 when an Episcopal school was opened. The school took on several names such as Saint Mary's School for Girls, Saint Mary's Episcopal School, Saint Mary's School, and Saint Mary's Academy Hall. Eventually, the school failed, but it left a strong need for a preparatory school. [2]
The church is located at 315 East Pecan Street in Travis Park, in the heart of the River Walk District and is only four blocks from the Alamo. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 12, 1998. Lady Bird Johnson and Lyndon B. Johnson were married at St. Mark's by Rev. Arthur R. McKinstry on November 17, 1934.
As of 2017, it had 87 churches, 26,000 active baptized members, and an Average Sunday Attendance of 10,592.The diocese and its parishes sponsor twenty-eight parochial schools and preschools, including TMI Episcopal (founded as "West Texas Military Academy"), a boarding college-preparatory school on the outskirts of San Antonio.

Under her supervision, the school grew from an industrial school for girls into a high school and later, a junior college. In 1942, the school, retaining the St. Philip’s Junior College name, affiliated with San Antonio College and the San Antonio Independent School District, marking the end of the college’s era as a private institution.
