US 212 and SD 63 travel concurrently to the east, along the northern edge of the CDP. They enter the city limits of North Eagle Butte and pass some sewage disposal ponds. After leaving the city limits, they skirt along the southern edge of the CDP. When SD 63 splits off to the north, it skirts along the eastern edge of North Eagle Butte.
North Eagle Butte is located in western Dewey County. It is bordered to the south by the city of Eagle Butte and by Ziebach County. U.S. Route 212 passes through North Eagle Butte, leading east 71 miles (114 km) to Gettysburg and west 141 miles (227 km) to Belle Fourche. Pierre, the state capital, is 90 miles (140 km) to the southeast.
Chartered by Sioux Tribe in 1973, Si Tanka University started as the Cheyenne River Community College. The college then changed its name in July 1999 to honor one of its leaders, Si Tanka (Bigfoot). Eagle Butte is a summit in Ziebach County, South Dakota, in the United States. With an elevation of 2,480 feet (760 m), Eagle Butte is the 439th highest summit in the state of South Dakota. Eagle Butte was so named on account of the area being a favourite hunting ground for eagles to be used for making war bonnets. References
