Central Alabama Community College (CACC) is a public community college in Alexander City, Alabama, United States. [1] The college enrolls over 1,500 students and has been accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1969.
Established on November 7, 1961, Jefferson Community College was the area's first institution of higher education and remains the only college with a campus in a 50 miles (80 km) radius. It was initially accredited in 1969, and is the only college in the State University of New York (SUNY) System with a zoo technology degree program. [2]
It is part of the California Community Colleges System and serves three counties. It has two branch campuses, as well as three additional sites. It is one of twelve community colleges in California that offer on-campus housing for students. In autumn of 2022, the school had 3,891 students of which 1,211 were full-time. [3]
A locally run system of winter shelters for the homeless, EVMS students and resident-physicians have long helped staff the shelters of this organization. The physicians-in-training often set up health screenings during this time, helping assess for diseases such as diabetes, hypertension within these homeless populations.
