An Apple disk image file's name usually has ".dmg" as its extension. A disk image is a compressed copy of the contents of a disk or folder. Disk images have .dmg at the end of their names. Based on my own experience, I reckon that the file compression ratio of a standard .dmg would be approximately 0.365%. That means that if you have a file which is reported by your file system to be about 500MB, for instance, and you turn it into a dmg image, your file system should report it to have a file size of approximately 182.5MB.

The change in elevation . . . going from sea level to 9,000 feet for some reason prevents me from sleeping. I start taking it 5 days before I leave Houston, and I sleep like a baby in the mountains.
