Results were declared on 23 December 2019. The pre-election term of the Assembly was set to end on 27 December 2019.
Hemant Soren (born 10 August 1975) is an Indian politician from Jharkhand, who served as the 5th Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2019 to 2024 and from 2013 to 2014. He is also the working president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, a political party in Jharkhand.
Jharkhand state elects six members and they are indirectly elected by the state legislators of Jharkhand. The number of seats allocated to the party, are determined by the number of seats a party possesses during nomination and the party nominates a member to be voted on.
Jharkhand is located in the eastern part of India and is enclosed by West Bengal to the eastern side, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh to the western side, Bihar to the northern part and Odisha to the southern part. Jharkhand envelops a geographical area of 79,716 square kilometres (30,779 sq mi).

The party grew out of the demand for a separate Jharkhand state. The Jharkhand Party participated in the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections of 1952, 1957, and 1962.
