Monrovia High School is the only grades 9–12 comprehensive high school in the Monrovia Unified School District. Established in 1893, the campus is located in an environment of neo-Spanish architecture, green lawns, hundred-year-old oak trees, and is nestled against the San Gabriel Mountains .

Sargent graduated from Monrovia High School. He earned his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1964, being the University Medalist as Most Distinguished Scholar in Class of 1964, and his PhD from Harvard in 1968, under supervision of John R. Meyer. Sargent's classmates at Harvard included Christopher A. Sims.
In 2014 Monrovia joined the Indiana Crossroads conference after previously being in the West Central conference. In 2015 the Bulldogs won the IHSAA football 2A Championship. Monrovia's gymnasium is named after legendary Indiana basketball coach and Monrovia alumni, Branch McCracken .

Duarte High School opened in 1958. Prior to that time Duarte high school students attended Monrovia High School. (The Wildcats.) Duarte High School is a part of the Montview league. In 2010 Duarte implemented academies, allowing students to take classes that are aimed to focus on their interests.
