South Dade Senior High School is a secondary school in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, Florida, just north of Homestead. It is located on 60 acres (240,000 m 2 ) at the southernmost end of Miami-Dade County.
The Geography Team was the 2000 Miami-Dade County second place team, and the 2001 Miami-Dade County first place team, as well as the 2001 Florida State Champions in the National Geographic Bee. The school has the following curricular groups: [5]
New Testament Baptist Church was founded in 1954, and Dade Christian School in 1961 by Pastor Al Janney. [4] Janney founded Dade Christian School in reaction to court decisions removing mandatory prayer from public schools and as a segregation academy, a school founded to enable white parents to avoid having their children educated alongside black children. Christopher Columbus High School is a private Catholic college-preparatory high school conducted by the Marist Brothers in the Westchester area of Miami-Dade County, Florida. [2] It was established in 1958 and transferred to the Marist Brothers in 1959. It has over 100 teachers, administrators, faculty, staff, and an enrollment of 1,700 students.
Its current principal is Randy Milliken. NMB High School was built in 1971 as an overcrowding reliever school for North Miami High School and Miami Norland High School. NMB High School was a pioneer in school construction; it was the first high school in Dade County to be built with no windows, and was therefore completely air-conditioned.
Miami Senior High School, founded in 1903, was Miami's first high school. Public schools in Miami are governed by Miami-Dade County Public Schools, which is the largest school district in Florida and the fourth-largest in the United States.
