Jharkhand is located in the eastern part of India and is enclosed by West Bengal to the eastern side, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh to the western side, Bihar to the northern part and Odisha to the southern part. Jharkhand envelops a geographical area of 79,716 square kilometres (30,779 sq mi).
The university houses facilities for Cricket, Hockey, Football, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basketball and Kho-Kho, accessible to both students and faculty members. There is also a student's health care centre, located within the campus, at a close distance from the academic and hostel blocks.
The affiliation was later granted by the Jharkhand University of Technology from 2018. In 2020, Manufacturing Engineering was replaced by Mechanical Engineering. On 1 July 2021, the university grants commission approved the institute for the Deemed University status under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
