Max Fisher. Max Martin Fisher (July 15, 1908 – March 3, 2005) was an American businessman and philanthropist. He was a benefactor/alumnus of the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University. He spent much of his life raising money for philanthropic and political endeavors and was a supporter of charitable and civic organizations.
St. John Fisher University (originally St. John Fisher College) was founded as a men's college in 1948 by the Basilian Fathers and with the aid of James E. Kearney, then the Bishop of the Diocese of Rochester. It is now operated as an independent institution in the Catholic tradition (independent since 1968), and coeducational (since 1971).
The St. John Fisher College Student Club provides representation for the members of the college. The Student Club holds events throughout the year for college residents, such as the Vatican Ball, pub crawls, an annual boat cruise, tours of the university, barbecues, and a significant O-Week orientation program.
