Check your account email client. One of the top reasons a user can't find their emails is due to settings from a third-party email client such as Outlook or the Mail app on your phone. Chances are the settings in the program are set to delete the emails from the AOL server each time you check your mail.
Use Sign-in Helper, AOL's password reset and account recovery tool, to get back in to your account. Go to the Sign-in Helper. Enter one of the account recovery items listed. Click Continue. Follow the instructions given in the Sign-in Helper. Change your password. From a desktop or mobile web browser: Sign in to the AOL Account security page.
Once you sign in, all your familiar settings will be there waiting for you. For security purposes, log out of your account when you're finished (especially if you're using a shared or public computer). Mouse over your account name in the upper right corner of the page and click Sign Out.
Since AOL owns these services, we can ensure you're always using the most secure sign-in technology when accessing your email. If you'd prefer to continue using your non-AOL email application, try removing and re-adding your account. Look for the AOL logo when you go to set it up again to activate the secure sign-in method.

Use a different supported web browser. Try signing into a different sign-in page, like our Aol.com sign-in page or the AOL Mail sign-in page.
When creating an app password, use a browser that you've used to sign into AOL Mail for several days in a row and avoid using Incognito mode. If this isn’t successful, use webmail or the official AOL App to access your email. Customer care can’t override this process of determining App Password creation eligibility.

Use the IMAP settings below to download your email from AOL Mail into a third-party email app, like Thunderbird, Outlook, or Mac Mail. For accounts with a lot of content, it can take several days or longer to download everything.
