Fort Bend Independent School District, also known as Fort Bend ISD or FBISD, is a school district based in Sugar Land, Texas. It operates 86 schools in Fort Bend County It is the 5th most diverse school district in Texas and is the 43rd largest district in the United States.
It became Fort Bend ISD's tenth high school. In January 2022, more than 200 students at the school signed a petition urging FBISD to close schools in response to rising COVID-19 cases. [14] In the 2022-2023 school year, district administrators proposed new attendance boundaries to combat overcrowding at the school of more than 3,000 students.
Stephen F. Austin High School is a secondary school located in unincorporated Fort Bend County, Texas [4] and is named after Stephen F. Austin, who helped lead American settlement of Texas, and who is widely regarded as "The Father of Texas." Hightower is administered by Fort Bend Independent School District and its mascot is Poseidon, but they are known as the Hightower Hurricanes.
