Meteorological synopsis. As another significant tornado outbreak was taking place across the Southern regions of the United States, the Storm Prediction Center had already highlighted a large 15% contour for severe weather across much of the area, where conditions were expected to become increasingly favorable for another severe weather event.
A dangerous severe weather event will threaten millions across more than a dozen states in the nation's heartland, starting during the latter part of this week and continuing through the weekend.

A severe thunderstorm contains large damaging hail of 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter or larger, and/or damaging winds of 58 mph (93 km/h) or greater.
