It is the largest urban university system in the United States, comprising 25 campuses: eleven senior colleges, seven community colleges, and seven professional institutions.
In October 2009, the Council on Education for Public Health accepted CUNY’s application to be reviewed for transforming its accredited programs in public health into a single school of public health. The review process began in 2010 and was completed in 2011. In September 2013, Dr. Ayman El-Mohandes was named Dean.
Departments and academic programs. The college is composed of 10 different academic departments offering 27 associate-level degrees. Hostos is notable for being the first and only CUNY campus offering a degree in Game Design. The campus also features a $1.05 million-dollar live recording studio, which is used by the media design programs.
