Bryan Adams High School opened in 1957 and was named after William Jennings Bryan Adams, a DISD Board of Education secretary from 1929 until his death in 1955. [4] The building was constructed at a cost of US$2.4 million [5] and was designed by the architectural firm of Goodwin & Cavitt using the same pattern as their building for Thomas Jefferson High School, which opened in 1955. On June 26, 2008, the Dallas ISD board voted to move all 10th and 11th graders from Spruce High School and released all staff from their contracts. As a result, Spruce disbanded all athletic teams during the 2008–2009 school year; thus, seniors who participated in athletics were eligible to transfer to other DISD schools.
Dallas ISD said the student will be disciplined accordingly. The district is also reminding parents that safety starts at home. Any weapons should be kept unloaded and in a secure location.
L.G. Pinkston High School enrolls students in grades 7-12 and is a part of the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). The school is named in honor of Dr. Lee Gresham Pinkston, an African American doctor who opened what was then Dallas's sole clinic for African-Americans, Pinkston Clinic Hospital, in 1927.
