Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) is a public school district that covers Seminole County, Florida. As of September 2006 [update] , the total district wide enrollment was 66,351 students. [3]
The Seminole Tribe of Florida is a federally recognized Seminole tribe based in the U.S. state of Florida. Together with the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, it is one of three federally recognized Seminole entities. It received that status in 1957. Today, it has six Indian reservations in Florida.
The first recorded black school was not until the late 1920s. By 1955, there was only one school for black students in Seminole County, the Seminole County Training School; it was located in Donalsonville and enrolled around 540 students. In 1970, during the integration of schools, three schools were created.
