J. Kim Vandiver (born December 4, 1945) is an American university professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Vandiver is the dean of undergraduate research and a professor of Mechanical and Ocean Engineering.
The university also has graduate campuses in Italy, China, and Washington, D.C. The university was named for its first benefactor, the American entrepreneur and Quaker philanthropist Johns Hopkins. Hopkins's $7 million bequest to establish the university was the largest philanthropic gift in U.S. history up to that time.
In 2017, the U.S. News & World Report ranked the Trial Advocacy Program as number 21 in the nation, tied with Stanford University, University of Georgia, University of Houston, and Campbell University (North Carolina). UMKC School of Law has repeatedly been ranked as a "Best Value Law School" by The National Jurist.
