East Aurora High School, (also known as EAHS or Aurora East High School), is a public, four-year high school located in Kane County, at the corner of Smith Boulevard and Fifth Avenue in Aurora, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois. It is the only high school in East Aurora Public School District 131.
East Aurora Middle School opened on September 5, 1916 (kindergarten department opened on September 4, 1917) as the original East Aurora High school until March 1971 when the current high school opened. The building was dedicated on November 27, 1917.
Although not in East Aurora, the Aurora Waldorf School is a nearby option in West Falls providing an alternative Waldorf education to children from infancy through eighth grade. In 2008 and 2009 additions and renovations totaling $24 million [ 18 ] were made to the district's schools to address space and maintenance issues. [ 19 ]
The first school in what would later become East Aurora School District 131 opened in 1836 at East Galena and Broadway. The school was subscription based. In 1839, a new school was built near Broadway and Claim Street. East Aurora became a charter district on April 30, 1847, and was officially recognized by the state in 1851.

Formed in 1963 its charter members were DeKalb High School, East Aurora High School, Elgin High School, Larkin High School, Glenbard East High School, Naperville Community, West Aurora High School and Wheaton Community high schools. That next year Wheaton Community was renamed Wheaton Central when the district split.
The district includes 22 schools, including one early learning center, 14 elementary schools for grades K-5, 5 junior high schools for grades 6–8, and 2 high schools. The district serves Oswego, Aurora, Montgomery, Plainfield, Yorkville, and Joliet. Total enrollment as of 2012 was about 18,000 students.
