The University of Oklahoma ( OU) is a public research university in Norman, Oklahoma, United States. SWOSU at Sayre was founded in 1938 as a Junior College, but in July 1987 by act of the Oklahoma legislature, it was merged with Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The school was named in honor of John P. Connors, the Board of Agriculture's first president. [2] In March 1927, the Oklahoma Legislature made the school an accredited junior college and renamed it as Connors State Agricultural College.
