Prior to the theme's official launch, Sonic the Hedgehog was included in the Lego crossover video game, Lego Dimensions, with a level pack being released in 2016.Lego Sonic the Hedgehog began with the release of a user-designed construction set based initially on the video game Sonic Mania and the final product was based on the first level from the first game, Sonic the Hedgehog.
The theme was introduced either as Expert Builder or Technical Sets (depending on market) in 1977, [2] and was renamed LEGO Technic in 1982. [3]Technic sets are characterized by their use of special pieces, such as gears, axles, and pins, which allow the construction of working mechanisms and mechanical structures.
The game allows the player to create a team of five minifigure characters, which are used to battle in campaigns, events and against other players in the arena. Players progress through the game by travelling through maps and completing battles against other teams of non-player characters.
