By 1965, all San Marcos Public Schools were gone from the Southwest Texas campus. In the following years, San Marcos CISD had continued to construct new campuses. This included the San Marcos High School which today is the Lamar Annex. It was used as the high school campus from 1951 until 1958.
In 2004, San Marcos Consolidated ISD voters approved close to $123 million in bonds. These bonds paid for a new San Marcos High School that is able to serve over 2,500 students; as of 2006 San Marcos High School had a student population of 1,990. Also with the bond money, SMCISD built new elementary and middle schools throughout the district.

San Marcos Academy is one of the oldest boarding schools in the state of Texas, and was established in 1907 by Texas Baptists with the support of the city of San Marcos. The academy's first president was James Milton Carroll . The academy has students matriculate at a wide range of colleges and universities.
Old Main is a red-roofed Victorian Gothic building on the campus of Texas State University. Situated at one end of the quad, it was Texas State's first building, built in 1903, and remained the only building on campus until 1908. Old Main was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1983. [2]
