The mission of the Division of Continuing Education was to provide access to higher education opportunities through a variety of non-traditional approaches for non-traditional students. Today, ODL and OPWD still cater to non-traditional students with education programs at the undergraduate, graduate, professional, and workforce levels.
Through PaCE, students are admitted to UF, but are required to complete 60 credit hours and all of their prerequisite courses through UF online before transitioning to on-campus learning. The University of Florida admitted 2,420 students for PaCE for the class of 2021.
Student involvement. The Benton Engineering Council (BEC) was established in 1910 to serve as the executive and legislative coordinating body for the students and organizations in the College of Engineering. There are currently 51 undergraduate and graduate student societies in the council, including many UF chapters of national organizations.
The graduate and family housing complexes are: Corry Village, Diamond Village, Maguire Village, Tanglewood Village, and University Village South. In addition they may reside in the UF affiliate The Continuum. Dependent children residing in the student housing with their parents are assigned to schools in the Alachua County Public Schools. The George A. Smathers Libraries of the University of Florida constitute one of the largest university library systems in the United States. The system includes eight of the nine libraries of the University of Florida and provides primary support to all academic programs except those served by the Lawton Chiles Legal Information Center.
