If you use AOL two-step verification or an older email app, you may need to use an app specific password to access AOL Mail. Learn how to generate third-party app passwords and remember, app passwords are only valid for the app they are created for and remain valid until you sign out or remove access to the app.
Enable Security Key for your AOL account. Sign in and go to the AOL Account security page. Under "2-Step Verification," click Turn on. Click Security Key. Follow the onscreen steps to add your Security Key. Add additional recovery methods in case your Security Key is lost. Sign in with Security Key. Sign in to your AOL account with your password.
