According to UNESCO's 2009 Global Education Digest, 6% of Pakistanis (9% of men and 3.5% of women) were university graduates as of 2007. [22] Pakistan plans to increase this figure to 10% by 2015 and subsequently to 15% by 2020. [23]

After the admission test, about 1,309 students get selected on the basis of merit and are offered admission. [60] The admission test is of 400 marks, with 40 questions carrying 10 marks each. 13 questions are from physics, 13 from chemistry and 14 from mathematics. The test is taken within two hours.
