It is now one of four high schools in the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, which was created in 1970 by a vote of the electorate unifying four high schools and the Hudson Elementary School District. Enrollment levels of the school have varied over the years. In 1978, it reached its highest enrollment, of 2,850 students.

The district was supervised by a three-member board of trustees and had no more than three schools. By the 1960s, Bassett Unified School District became a larger academic entity; however, for safety reasons, some of the first buildings were destroyed, and the property was sold. By the 1980s, all campuses/ school sites there today existed.

The school was named for Glen A. Wilson, former Superintendent of the La Puente Union High School District 1953-1972 (which became Hacienda La Puente Unified School District in 1970). He was born in Alpaugh, California, on September 11, 1913. He was a resident of Hillcrest in La Verne, California when he died on September 7, 1996.
