College of DuPage was established after the Illinois General Assembly adopted the Public Community College Act of 1965 and the approval of DuPage high school district voters in a referendum. [3] The college opened on September 25, 1967, under the leadership of the college's president, Rodney K. Berg, and Board of Trustees Chairman George L. Seaton.
In 1924, the school was renamed Elmhurst College [8] [9] and became a four-year college for men. The college seal was designed in the 1920s by Robert Leonhardt, [10] first registrar of the college, who also served as coach of the football team. Women first enrolled in 1930, and four years later, the college was accredited. [11]
Westwood College was founded in Denver, Colorado, in 1953. For many years, the school was known as Denver Institute of Technology, offering diploma and degree programs in a variety of technical fields. As the school expanded into other industries, the name was changed to Westwood College in 1997.
