In 2007, Drexel lacrosse defeated University of Virginia, ranked number one at the time and the defending National Champion, Drexel's first victory over a number one ranked Division I team in any sport. Drexel's 1998 lacrosse squad finished the year with a then school record of twelve wins against two defeats.
