It is part of the Sierra Joint Community College District, a district that covers over 3,200 square miles (8,300 km 2), serves Placer, Nevada and parts of El Dorado and Sacramento counties.
The current location in Rancho Cucamonga opened in the spring of 1960. The college's mascot is the Panther. President Bill Clinton visited Chaffey in 1996, [5] announcing a proposal to finance two years of community college education to expand the basic education of all Americans to 14 years. Chaffey launched its online education program in 1999.
Community college is tuition-free for selected students in 47 states, often under the name College Promise. Most community college instructors have advanced degrees but serve as part-time low wage employees. [1][2] Community college enrollment has declined every year since 2010.
