The Indian Air Force was established on 8 October 1932 in British India as an auxiliary air force [ 22 ] of the Royal Air Force. The enactment of the Indian Air Force Act 1932 [ 23 ][ 24 ] stipulated out their auxiliary status and enforced the adoption of the Royal Air Force uniforms, badges, brevets and insignia. [ 25 ]

29. Survivors. 0. On 22 July 2016, an Antonov An-32 twin engine turboprop transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed while flying over the Bay of Bengal. The aircraft was en route from Tambaram Air Force Station in the city of Chennai on the western coastline of the Bay of Bengal to Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
These aircraft are not normally accessible by the general public. Large transport aircraft are stored on the apron of the airbase due to lack of space.
