Friendly staff although my car was broken into the second day I was here! There wasn’t even a sorry from the property manager.

An extensively renovated 3 story strip motel. Beautiful in the details, like a small outdoor seating area, providing water bottles instead of plastic, coffee, hot chocolate gratis AND wine by the glass. And of course the location, about 100 yards from the SFO monorail / CalTrain / BART terminal, so very easy access from SFO for early morning flights or late night arrivals. Good restaurants within short walks [we liked Neal's Coffee Shop]. Just an overall pleasant experience at a good value.
They advertise like an hotel but is only a motel.
Tv. was not working at all unknown brand and only able to control with remote control which has no batteries.
After 20 minutes trying to watch the news with no results ,I had to call one phone but the person who answered want me after my 10 hours flying (at 11.49 PM ),to go to the lobby to look for the new batteries “somewhere” in the lobby, because was to late for her to fix a problem that should never happen.
Not even one of the plugs to charge the cell phone or lap top worked (USB and C port from very bad quality). So I had to charge everything in my rented car.
The heating water also not working at all.
Looks a facility that the owner runs from his home.
The people who answers the phone really don’t care much to satisfy the passengers. They just answer emails asking for apologies, but nobody comes to the facility when you tell them what was not working. They promise me to come next morning to fix all the things not working, but never appeared.
Finally next day at 10.30 am I decided to cancel my next day reserved, but they kept my money for 2 days anyway. …. In simple words I felt very deceived going to Kasa Catrina. Is worst than a Super 8 motel. Owner probably makes big money because no personal hired but he never supervise his facility either.
Nobody warned me that I absolutely needed to have my own USA SIM card in order to get to my room, because everything is virtual. If your flight arrives after office hours, and no USA SIM card no possibility to get into your room since nobody in the lobby either. Took me like 30 minutes to follow all the virtual procedures to get to the lobby and my room. Doing that very late in the night after 10 hours flying from Chile was a nightmare.

We were in San Mateo for a family celebration.
We were in San Mateo for a family celebration. The hotel was wonderful. We spent time in San Mateo and San Francisco and the location of the hotel was perfect for a day in San Francisco. We had lunch at Park &Howard Bistro and a wonderful dinner at Palette in the mall. Both wonderful places to eat.
Virtual check in with code, ideal and so handy. Price is right, rooms are nice with a big television screen and a lot of tv channels, Keurig coffee maker + separate hot water boiler were much appreciated.
Easy contact through mail or text messages (sms)
Like San Mateo a lot with Heidi's breakfast place nearby and a newly opened coffee shop Kaizen for that necessary cup of freshly brewed coffee in the morning.
Absolutely recommend it.
It's very new & "almost" clean, room was comfortable, staffs are friendly and helpful, helped us to get the pick up service to the airport ($35 plus $5 airport charge to SFO Int'l airport). There is a small market and several restaurants just behind the hotel in 3 minutes walking distance. The only thing is that there was a long hair in the shower pan but other than that, everything else was good.
The aesthetics of the hotel was so cute! The decor was even in the hotel room itself. The beds were very soft and comfortable. The design and layout of the room was great. We parked right in front of our window so we had great view of our car. Bathroom had all upgraded equipment. It was very nice. Will definitely come back when I’m in the area.
Quiet location, basics, and market within 10mts walk. San Mateo downtown in 10mts drive. And you can drive to SFO or Paolo Alto in 30mts. Good kitchen and living area. Great ppty managers are on call to help, to go beyond the usual. Good open yard for kids, barbecue, or to lounge under sun. Will certainly come back for our next trip.
Getting into the hotel was difficult, as the messages that were sent to me, were while I was still in the air. With no WIFI, it was impossible to reach anyone. I was fortunate that another guest was willing to help me. I didn't think the room was that clean, and the floors were dirty, The shower stall was also not clean.
Staff is friendly and helpful! Our hotel room was very clean. The check-in and check-out process was smooth. The pool area was easy to access and fun to use. Location is in a great area with shopping and dining just a short drive down the street.
The room is clean, the personnel was really supportive and helped us with literally everything we asked for - like change the room to have the one with a working fridge, show the direction, advice on some stuff.
Clean room, poor lighting though. Your staff was exceedingly helpful, especially the manager James and one of the staff, Ricardo. I really appreciated the attitude of everyone around.
Staff was very helpful when our prepaid room reservation wasn't there. Breakfast was an 8. The hotel was old but very well maintained, very clean and a little querky.
I needed a cheap place to quarantine during my unexpected COVID stay. This was the best option for what I had to deal with, and it worked perfectly for me.
