Understanding Platelet Rich Fibrin

Tue, May 28, 2024 7:00 PM EDT

Platelet concentrates have a long history of use in medicine as an autologous source of growth factors that are fabricated utilizing centrifugation of blood under various conditions. Over the past 10 years, there has been a steady increase in the use of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) for a variety of medical procedures. This is mainly due to its lack of anticoagulation factors that favor fibrin clot formation and faster wound healing.

This course will highlight the recent advancements made in formulations of platelet concentrates including developments in horizontal centrifugation. This presentation will include information on bioheat technology, which can extend the working properties of PRF from 2 to 3 weeks to 4 to 6 months. Lastly, new clinical applications and uses of PRF will be presented in implant dentistry and in facial esthetics.

Learning Objectives:
  • Learn optimized protocols for any centrifugation device
  • Examine bioheat technology and its ability to extend the working properties of PRF from 2 to 3 weeks to 4 to 6 months
  • Understand the launch of biocool technology
  • Discover new ways to use PRF in facial esthetics
