The leading personal information manager

Microsoft Outlook is the trial version of the leading personal information manager that allows you to send emails and track your schedule with a calendar. Now a part of the Microsoft Office suite of productivity apps, it formally replaced Microsoft Entourage and offers more features and better connectivity.

Like other email sending apps such as Apple Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook stores your email history, lets you create new meetings, tasks, appointments, and new contacts, and organize your schedule using a calendar. For people with a lot of tasks to accomplish, this app is a great companion.

Make your work faster, easier

When you first run Microsoft Outlook on your device, you have to set it up. You will register system connection options as well as your credentials. Usually, for company employees, IT personnel are the ones the set this up. However, if you’re using it to manage your personal emails, appointments, and schedules, you can simply follow the procedures on the first-time start-up.

The app sports a minimized button layout, making it easy for you to find similar functions. Most of the quick access buttons are grouped together–such as formatting, file, design, and more–making the experience intuitive and easy. It frees up more space on your window to let you view your email lists, their content, and even your calendar. This lets you manage multiple projects at once all in one window.

Of course, aside from simply improving its look and layout, there are also new features designed to significantly improve your work. This emailing app has an Instant Search feature that lets you find email faster. Located right above the Outlook ribbon, you just have to type the name of the sender or recipient, and it will return search results in real-time.

Too bulky for simple users

First, as a trial version, you’ll have no worries with the Microsoft Outlook functionalities because both versions have full functions. However, you can only use it for a limited time before the app looks for a registration key. It will still run for a certain amount of time after that but it will be limited only to View Only mode and will show “Unlicensed Product” notifications on your window.

Since it was intended to be an all-in-one personal information manager, it inevitably has a lot of features. For casual users who, for example, only need an emailing app, they will find the scheduling and networking capabilities of Outlook overwhelming. However, for people who’d rather have what they don’t need instead of the other way around, this is a good option, together with the rest of the Microsoft Office suite.

Your digital email and planning buddy

Microsoft Outlook remains one of the top apps in its category for a number of reasons. It is easy to set up and its user interface has been redesigned to match the modern user’s need for simplicity and accessibility. Of course, this massive functionality won’t appeal to casual users looking for a simpler app, since all options and services in this platform will overwhelm them. Still, this family of apps remains popular around the world.
